Bread Pakoda – Soft And Spongy
Soft Spongy Delicious Snack made with bread & maida

  • Bread slices(cut into triangular halves) – 4nos
  • All purpose flour(Maida) – 5tbsp
  • Sugar 2tbsp
  • Salt 1/4tsp
  • Red chilly powder – 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
  • Fenugreek powder(Uluva) – 1small
  • Egg 1nos
  • Water 1cup
  • Sunflower/Coconut Oil(for frying – just enough to dip the bread slice while shallow frying) –
Additional items:
  • Kitchen tissue paper(to soak extra oil) –
  • Tomato ketchup (while serving, if preferred) –
  1. Mix maida, sugar, salt, chilly powder, turmeric powder, fenugreek powder(optional) in a bowl.
  2. Add an egg into this mixture beating it slowly.
  3. Now slowly add water to this mixture ensuring that the consistency is thick but not too watery.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.
  5. When oil is hot enough and ready for frying, dip the bread halves one at a time and fry it. Don`t keep the bread slices in the mixture for too long. Also, ensure that the bread slices are equally covered in thin batter.
  6. Simmer the stove if needed so that the color of the fried slices remain slightly brown or even yellow.
  7. Place the fried slices on tissue or kitchen paper and soak up all the extra oil. The fried slices are soft and slightly sweet to taste.
  8. Serve this along with tomato ketchup(if preferred).
  9. Bread pakoda is a quick evening snack and a saviour when you have unexpected visitors.
