  1. Wash dal well.
  2. Put it in a vessel. Add into it the chopped onion, tomato, green chillies, ginger, garlic and salt.
  3. Pour enough water and allow it to cook.
  4. When the gravy thickens, add the curry leaves.
  5. Splutter mustard seeds in a little oil and add it to the dal.
