  • Lentils / split pigeon pea : 1 cup –
  • Turmeric powder : ½ tsp –
  • Asafoetida : a pinch –
  • Water : 2 cup –
  • Salt to taste –
For Tempering :
  1. Clean and wash the lentils and boil in a pressure cooker for 4 – 5 whistles.
  2. Blend the lentils with a hand blender till smooth.
  3. Transfer the boiled lentils to a pan and add 2 cups water, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt and bring to a boil.
  4. Heat ghee in a pan and add the cumin seeds / whole jeera and fry. Add minced garlic and fry till golden brown.
  5. Add the curry leaves and ½ tsp red chilli powder and pour the tempering on the boiled lentils.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
