- Papaya(medium) - 1 no
- Coconut - 1/4 of
- Green chillies - 4 nos
- Garlic cloves - 4 nos
- Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coconut oil - 3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Salt(As reqd) -
- Curry leaves(Few) -
- Plain rice - 2 tbsp
- Dry red chillies(Kollamulaku) - 2 nos

Instructions
- For preparing Kappalanga(Papaya) Thoran, first remove the outer skin and the seeds inside the papaya.
- Clean it well and finely chop it.
- :- You can also grate it.
- Pound grated coconut, green chillies, turmeric powder, cumin seeds and garlic in a mixer bowl.
- Mix the above with the finely chopped papaya and salt.
- Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
- Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies, rice and curry leaves.
- Add the papaya-coconut mixture and mix well.
- Cover and cook in a low flame.
- Stir occasionally.
- After 2 to 3 minutes, remove the lid and stir well.
- Continue to cook, till Kaplanga Thoran is done.
- Kaplanga Thoran, a nutritious side dish is ready.

Instead of cumin, you can use dhania powder for pappaya thoran and it tastes much better.
