Lamb Kofta
Spicy meatballs in delicious curry sauce

Ingredients
For koftas:-
  • Lamb(minced) – 500gm
  • Garlic pod(crushed) – 1no
  • Ginger(grated) – 1/4tsp
  • Fresh red or green chillies(chopped) – 1no
  • Chilly powder – 1/4tsp
  • Coriander leaves(chopped) – 2tbsp
  • Salt 1 1/2tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1tsp
  • Coriander powder 1tsp
  • Onion(finely chopped, medium) – 1no
  • Egg(lightly beaten) – 1no
  • Oil or ghee for frying –
  • For gravy; –
  • Ghee 2tbsp
  • Onion(finely chopped, medium) – 2nos
  • Garlic pods(crushed) – 2nos
  • Ginger(finely chopped) – 1tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 1tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1tsp
  • Tomato(chopped, medium) – 2nos
  • Lamb stock – 1 1/2cups
  • Salt 1tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1tsp
  • Chilly powder – 1tsp
  • Coriander leaves(chopped) – 2tbsp
Instructions
  1. For making the koftas:- 1)Mix together minced meat, onion, garlic, ginger, chillies, coriander, salt and garam masala.
  2. Shape into walnut size balls.
  3. :- It will be easier if u use wet hands to shape them.
  4. Dip balls in the beaten egg.
  5. Fry in hot oil, till they turn golden brown.
  6. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  7. For making the gravy:- 6)Heat ghee in a large heavy pan or wok.
  8. Fry onions, garlic and ginger slowly, until onions turn soft and golden.
  9. Add tumeric powder, garam masala and chilly powder and stir fry for 1 min.
  10. Add tomatoes, chilly powder, salt and lemon juice and stir well.
  11. Add stock and mix well.
  12. Add koftas and mix well.
  13. Cover and simmer for 20 – 25 mins, until the gravy is thick.
  14. Add chopped coriander leaves 5 mins before switching off the flame.
  15. :- Serve with rice or naan.
