Pidi Kozhukattai
Pidi Kozhukattai are soft and delicious dumplings prepared from idli rawa. These are easy to prepare breakfast/snack dishes that you will cherish. These dumplings are soft in texture and the taste is good. These kozhukattais are easy to prepare dumplings compared to traditional ones. Now in urban culture, everything has changed. People opt for easy options. And Pidi Kozhukattai is one such dish with a sweet flavor of jaggery too. This is a healthy and nutritious snack, very wholesome and filing. Kids love the sweet snack and you can be assured that they are relishing something good and healthy. Instead of going for sweet version of kozhukattai, you can opt for plain salt version too leaving out jaggery. Elders usually opt for salt version.   1. For preparing crust, first measure water and pour into a non-stick pan. Leave it to boil.
  2. When it boils vigourously, add 2 tsp oil/ghee, salt, coconut and the idli rawa.
  3. Keep stirring and once the water evaporates, take it off the stove.
  4. Allow it to cool to a bearable temperature.
  5. For the filling, powder the jaggery well.
  6. For making the kozhukkattai, first take a small quantity of the dough.
  7. Make it into an egg shaped ball.
  8. Make a small incission and put some filling of jaggery.
  9. Seal the incission by moulding the stuffed dough again with your palms.
  10. The final product will be shaped like an egg.
  11. Prepare all the kozhukkatais like this.
  12. Steam in an idli cooker.
  13. :- Do not take it out of the cooker when it is hot. It will break.
  14. Allow it to cool inside the cooker for sometime. This will hold the kozhukattai together.
