Rasakalan – Brahmin Special
Rasakalan is a delicious and traditional Brahmin special dish with rich creamy gravy. Rasakalan is a combo of a variety of veggies like white gourd, Pumpkin and other vegetables cooked in a coconut mixture and seasoned. In these vegetable we have different in taste and different color . so its very rich in fiber and vitamins. Rasakalan is unique and special with cooked vegetables blended in a coconut mixture and in final stage the seasoning gives more aroma to entire dish .   1. For preparing rasakalan – brahmin special, cut and wash white gourd, pumpkin, elephant yam and raw banana. Boil with sufficient quantity of water. Add turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Fry channa dal, red chillies(3 numbers) and fenugreek(1/2 tsp) with coconut oil and grind the fried items with grated coconut and green chilly.
  3. Add the ground mixture to the first step and boil for a few minutes.
  4. Add jaggery.
  5. Add slightly soured butter milk and as it starts foaming a bit, stop cooking. Care should be taken that it should not be boiled.
  6. Fry mustard seeds, fenugreek (balance 1/2 tsp) and red chilly (one number) and add this to the mixture.
  7. Rasakalan – brahmin special recipe, is ready. Serve with rice.
