Ingredients
Toovar dal : 1 cup –
Finely chopped tomatoes : 2 nos –
Garlic
minced : 3
cloves
–
Turmeric powder
: ½ tsp –
Cumin seeds
: 1 tsp –
Asafoetida : ¼ tsp –
Green chillies
– 2 –

Freshly chopped coriander leaves : few –
Vegetable
oil
: 2 tsp –
Ghee
: 1 tsp –
Instructions
Rinse toovar dal and soak in
water
for 30 minutes.
Chop the tomatoes fine and add to the toovar dal and boil in a pressure cooker 5 – 6 whistles.
Heat
oil
and
ghee
in a pan over medium heat and add asafoetida,
cumin seeds
, minced
garlic
, chillies and
curry leaves
and fry for a minute.

Add boiled dal, 1 cup
water

turmeric powder
and
salt
and simmer on a low flame for approximately 10 – 15 minutes.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice.
