Ingredients
Rice –

Green gram
(Moong Dal/Pasi Paruppu) –

Ginger

Curry leaves

Cumin seeds
(Jeerakam) –

Whole Black Pepper –

Cashew nuts –

Ghee

Instructions
On a low flame, fry moong dal for few minutes.
:- No
oil
is required for this.
Boil 10 cups of
water
and add rice, dal,
salt
and
ginger
to it. Cook till done. :- If required, add more
water
.
Heat
ghee
in a separate pan.
Add
cumin seeds
, black pepper,
curry leaves
and cashew nuts and saute well.
Pour this over the cooked rice and dal and mix well.
:- Serve hot. Sambar and Chutney will go well with this pongal.
