  1. On a low flame, fry moong dal for few minutes.
  2. :- No oil is required for this.
  3. Boil 10 cups of water and add rice, dal, salt and ginger to it. Cook till done. :- If required, add more water.
  4. Heat ghee in a separate pan.
  5. Add cumin seeds, black pepper, curry leaves and cashew nuts and saute well.
  6. Pour this over the cooked rice and dal and mix well.
  7. :- Serve hot. Sambar and Chutney will go well with this pongal.
