Yummy Carrot Vada
Grated carrot with urad dhal and other ingredients

  • Split gram dhal/Urad dhal(Uzhunnu parippu) – 2cups
  • Carrot(peeled and grated) – 1cup
  • Coriander leaves(chopped) – 5springs
  • Ginger Paste – 1tsp
  • Curry leaves(finely chopped) – 2springs
  • Green chillies(finely chopped) – 3nos
  • Pepper corns(crushed) – 1tbsp
  • Oil(As reqd) –
  • Salt(As reqd) –
  1. For preparing carrot vada, soak urad dal in water for 2 hours.
  2. Drain and blend it(do not add too much of water while blending). It should have a very thick consistency.
  3. Put the blended mixture in a bowl.
  4. Add in salt, grated carrot, pepper powder, green chillies, curry leaves, coriander leaves and ginger paste. Mix it well and keep it aside for ten minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  6. Make small lemon sized balls out of the above thick mixture.
  7. Flatten them slightly and deep fry it on both sides till they become golden brown in color.
  8. Carrot vada¦s are ready. Serve hot with sambar.
