Mackerel Majboos

Majboos is an Arabian main course for parties or festivals. This recipe is an innovative one by using fish instead of chicken.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Kayama rice
  • 3 Mackerel ayala
  • 1 ½ Chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 Tomato
  • 5 Green chilli
  • 3 Onion
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 Carrot
  • 3 tsp Majboos masala
  • 2 Cardamom
  • 1 Clove
  • 1 pc Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 leaf Sarvva sughandhi
  • 1 whole Dry lemon make a small hole in it
  • Salt to taste
  • Water 1/4th level higher than the rice level
  • Oil as required

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the fish in chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt. Fry it in oil. Shred the flesh and remove the bones. Keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a bottom thick vessel and saute cinnamon stick, cardamom, cumin seeds and clove in it.
  • Add onion and sautT well.
  • Then add tomato, carrot, green chilly, ginger and garlic. SautT again.
  • Add 1 tsp chilly powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Mix salt and majboos masala also with it.
  • Mix in the shredded fish with the masala.
  • Now pour water as required and mix in the leaf and dry lemon. Add the rice to it and cook covered till the water drains or till the rice gets well cooked.
  • Serve it hot with cucumber salad.
