Special Spicy Mutton Curry

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Kg Mutton
  • 1 Kg Tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp Red chilly powder
  • 6 nos Green Chillies
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice
  • Salt As Reqd
  • 350 ml Ghee

Ingredients For spicy paste:

  • 1 tbsp Poppy seeds Kashakasha
  • 10 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 10 nos Cardamom Elakka
  • 50 g Ginger
  • 1/4 cup Garlic bulbs
  • 1 cup Coconut pieces
  • 1 cup Onion

Instructions
 

  • For preparing special spicy mutton curry, first cut the mutton into small pieces. Bones need not be discarded. Cut the tomatoes into fine pieces. Split the green chillies lengthwise.
  • Add the turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chilly powder and one tea spoon of salt to the mutton pieces and leave to marinate.
  • Add all the ingredients of spicy paste to a blending jar and grind into a fine paste.
  • To a deep bottomed pan add ghee and heat. Splutter mustard seeds. Add the onion pieces, split green chillies and fry till the onion pieces turn brown.
  • Add the tomato pieces and allow to simmer till the volume of tomato pieces reduce to about one fourth and total ingredients blend well into a homogeneous mass.
  • Add the spicy paste and fry till raw smell is gone. Add the marinated mutton pieces and enough salt and stir fry well.
  • Add two cups of water, mix well and simmer in medium flame until the mutton pieces are cooked well.
  • Serve hot.
