For preparing potato/urulaikizhangu karakkary - brahmin special, heat oil in a pan and fry mustard seeds and then add potato, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and salt and cook for few minutes.
Take another pan and fry items 5, 6, 7, and 8 in little coconut oil. Grind this to powder form. Then add to the 1st step.
Add gingeely oil and cook for 5 minutes.
Add asafoetida.
Cook till the mixture becomes a little brownish in color.
