Vellarika Pulincurry In Kannur Style

Cooked vellarika pieces are blended with ground coconut mixture

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g Cucumber Vellarika
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek Uluva
  • 3 nos Dry red chillies
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 nos Green chilly
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Cut cucumber into small cubes and pressure cook with green chillies, chilly powder and turmeric powder till the pieces becomes soft.
  • Grind coconut with jeera and curd to a fine paste.
  • Add the mixture into the cooked vellarika pieces and allow it to boil.
  • Add curry leaves and wait for the curry to boil and thicken. Remove from fire.
  • Take a small plan and splutter fenugreek, red chillies, curry leaves and pour it into the curry.
  • Curry is ready and can be served with rice.
  • Note :- If you want the color of curry to be dark yellowish and red, then add more turmeric powder and chilly powder or else grind the whole red chillies with coconut. In this case avoid green chillies as it will be very spicy.
