Pressure cook the dhal and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and urad dhal.Add curry leaves when it splutters.
Add chopped onions and fry until it turns light brown.
Add chopped tomatoes and fry until it cooks well.
Add beetroot and turmeric powder and fry for a minute.
Add water and let it cook until beetroot is done.
In the meantime grind the ingredients and keep aside.
Add ground masala, salt and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
Add chiily powder if u need more spicy.
Once the raw smell disappeared add the cooked dhal and the lemon juice and leave for another 2 minutes.
:- Serve hot with rice.Suitable for dosai too.
