Beetroot Gravy

A different but tasty gravy suitable for rice and dosai and healthy too

Ingredients
  

  • 1 glass Toor dhal
  • 2 nos Tomato
  • 1 no Onion
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 4 nos Beetroot cut into shapes according to your wish
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Urad dhal
  • Curry leaves little
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

Grinding:-

  • 1/2 tsp Jeera
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 no Garlic
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 10 tbsp Grated coconut

Instructions
 

  • Pressure cook the dhal and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and urad dhal.Add curry leaves when it splutters.
  • Add chopped onions and fry until it turns light brown.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and fry until it cooks well.
  • Add beetroot and turmeric powder and fry for a minute.
  • Add water and let it cook until beetroot is done.
  • In the meantime grind the ingredients and keep aside.
  • Add ground masala, salt and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Add chiily powder if u need more spicy.
  • Once the raw smell disappeared add the cooked dhal and the lemon juice and leave for another 2 minutes.
  • :- Serve hot with rice.Suitable for dosai too.
