Alu-Methi-Frozen Raw Garbanzo Beans Sabzi

Curry with potato, methi and frozen raw garbanzo beans

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Potato cubed
  • or
  • 1 no Potato large
  • 3 - Boiling water
  • 1 cup Onion juliened
  • 1 cup Fenugreek leaves Uluva ela
  • 1/2 cup Frozen green garbanzo beans
  • Salt As reqd
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/5 tsp
  • 4 nos Green chillies
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

Grind the following to fine powder:-

  • 2 tsp Poppy seeds powder Khashakhasha
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds Perinjeerakam
  • 2 nos Cardamom pods Elakka

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the onions and chopped green chillies and saute for 3 - 4 mins.
  • Add methi leaves and saute until the raw smell of leaves goes and nice aroma comes.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric and salt and saute for 2 mins.
  • Add the frozen raw garbanzo beans,saute for 2-3 minutes and add potatoes and saute for 3 mins, until the potatoes are mixed well.
  • Add the ground powder and mix well.
  • Saute for a couple of minutes.
  • Add 3 - 4 cups of boiling water and close the lid and cook until done.
  • :- Serve with roti/nan/roasted bread/chapathi etc.
  • :- If u want to have this rice, u will have to boil the potato and cube it. And follow the same steps until step 4. In step 5, instead of raw potato u use the boiled and cubed potatoes. and in step 7 add gr ound masala powder and just add 2 tbsp of water. Mix it well and cover the pan until the flavour of methi is absorbed by the potato. Finally sprinkle lime juice and serve hot with rice.
