Ven Pongal - Breakfast Special

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1 cup Green gram Moong Dal/Pasi Paruppu
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 4 - Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/2 tsp Whole Black Pepper
  • 7 - Cashew nuts
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • On a low flame, fry moong dal for few minutes.
  • :- No oil is required for this.
  • Boil 10 cups of water and add rice, dal, salt and ginger to it. Cook till done. :- If required, add more water.
  • Heat ghee in a separate pan.
  • Add cumin seeds, black pepper, curry leaves and cashew nuts and saute well.
  • Pour this over the cooked rice and dal and mix well.
  • :- Serve hot. Sambar and Chutney will go well with this pongal.
