Potato-Dal Curry

Potato and Toor Dal with coconut

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Red gram Thuvaraparippu
  • 1 no Onion medium
  • 2 cups Potato cut into cubes
  • 2 - Green chillies
  • Salt As reqd
  • Curry leaves A few
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 no Garlic pod small
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder

Instructions
 

  • Cut onion into cubes and cut green chillies vertically.
  • Pressure cook toor dal with the onions and green chillies adding sufficient water.
  • :- Dal should be cooked well.
  • Grind together coconut with cumin seeds, chilly powder, garlic, turmeric powder and pepper powder in a blender adding enough water.
  • In a vessel, mix cooked toor dal, coconut mixture and potatoes.
  • Cook well adding salt and curry leaves.
  • Cook till the potatoes are done.
  • :- Serve hot with chappathies.
