Spinach Koottu
Easy method--Can be mixed with white rice or rotis

- 1/2 cup Green gram Cheruparippu/Moong dal
- 0.75 Oz Baby spinach 340 gm, or normal spinach
- 3 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
- 6 tsp Grated coconut
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 4 nos Green chillies or less if u want it less spicy
- 1 tsp Salt
- Asafoetida A pinch, Kayam
For seasoning:-
- 2 nos Dry red chillies Kollamulaku
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Cooking oil
Boil moong dal and spinach in the cooker and allow 2 whistles.
:- It can be put in the same vessel.
Grind the green chillies, pepper, grated coconut and cumin seeds.
Pour 2 tsp of cooking oil in a wide mouthed vessel (kadai).
Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies.
Add the cooked dal-spinach mixture and put salt and the above paste.
Let it cook for 5 mins, stirring in regular intervals.
Add asafoetida.
