Spinach Koottu

Easy method--Can be mixed with white rice or rotis

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Green gram Cheruparippu/Moong dal
  • 0.75 Oz Baby spinach 340 gm, or normal spinach
  • 3 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 6 tsp Grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 4 nos Green chillies or less if u want it less spicy
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Asafoetida A pinch, Kayam

For seasoning:-

  • 2 nos Dry red chillies Kollamulaku
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cooking oil

Instructions
 

  • Boil moong dal and spinach in the cooker and allow 2 whistles.
  • :- It can be put in the same vessel.
  • Grind the green chillies, pepper, grated coconut and cumin seeds.
  • Pour 2 tsp of cooking oil in a wide mouthed vessel (kadai).
  • Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies.
  • Add the cooked dal-spinach mixture and put salt and the above paste.
  • Let it cook for 5 mins, stirring in regular intervals.
  • Add asafoetida.
