Lamb Kofta

Spicy meatballs in delicious curry sauce

Ingredients
  

For koftas:-

  • 500 gm Lamb minced
  • 1 no Garlic pod crushed
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger grated
  • 1 no Fresh red or green chillies chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 no Onion finely chopped, medium
  • 1 no Egg lightly beaten
  • Oil or ghee for frying
  • For gravy;
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 nos Onion finely chopped, medium
  • 2 nos Garlic pods crushed
  • 1 tbsp Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 2 nos Tomato chopped, medium
  • 1 1/2 cups Lamb stock
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped

Instructions
 

  • For making the koftas:- 1)Mix together minced meat, onion, garlic, ginger, chillies, coriander, salt and garam masala.
  • Shape into walnut size balls.
  • :- It will be easier if u use wet hands to shape them.
  • Dip balls in the beaten egg.
  • Fry in hot oil, till they turn golden brown.
  • Drain on an absorbent paper.
  • For making the gravy:- 6)Heat ghee in a large heavy pan or wok.
  • Fry onions, garlic and ginger slowly, until onions turn soft and golden.
  • Add tumeric powder, garam masala and chilly powder and stir fry for 1 min.
  • Add tomatoes, chilly powder, salt and lemon juice and stir well.
  • Add stock and mix well.
  • Add koftas and mix well.
  • Cover and simmer for 20 - 25 mins, until the gravy is thick.
  • Add chopped coriander leaves 5 mins before switching off the flame.
  • :- Serve with rice or naan.
