Kerala Simple Chicken Stew

Chicken stew in Cow`s milk

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Chicken
  • 1 no Potato cut into small pieces
  • 3 nos Onions finely chopped
  • 3 nos Green chillies cut slit open length-wise
  • 1 tbsp Garlic cut into thin pieces
  • 1 tbsp Ginger cut into thin pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk full fat
  • 1 tsp Allpurpose flour Maida
  • 4 small Cinnamon crushed, Karugapatta
  • 4 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 4 nos Cardamom crushed, Elakka
  • 3 stems Curry leaves
  • 4 tsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Cook cut pieces of chicken with vinegar, potatoes, salt and a little water in a pressure cooker, upto 1 whistle.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • SautT onions, green chillies, garlic and ginger in this order.
  • Add crushed cinnamon sticks, cloves and cardamom and sautT, till onions turn brown.
  • SautT, till the fresh smell of masala leaves.
  • Add the above mixture to the cooked chicken.
  • Cover and bring everything to a boil.
  • Dissolve the maida in milk and add this to the cooked chicken.
  • Add curry leaves.
  • Allow the contents to boil and stir it often.
  • Turn off the flame immediately after it boils.
  • Check for the salt.
  • :- Serve hot with appams.
