Capsicum-Channa Curry

Channa(Kadala) cooked with onions and capsicum

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Channa Boiled
  • Cinnamon(Karugapatta)
  • Cloves(Grambu)
  • Nutmeg(Jathikka)
  • Bay Leaf(Vazhana/Karuga ela)
  • Ginger Garlic paste -1/2 tbsp
  • 1/2 cup Onions long slices
  • 1/4 cup Tomato chopped
  • 1/2 cup Capsicum Julienned
  • 1 tbsp Chilly powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • Oil or Butter
  • Salt As reqd
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • 5 nos Cashewnuts
  • 1/2 tbsp Lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil or butter in a pan. 2)Saute the spices except the Bay Leaf. 3)Add the onions and ginger-garlic paste and saute. 4)Add tomatoes, chilly powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder. Mix well. 5)Add the capsicum and mix well. :- Make sure the capsicum is well cooked. 6)Add channa and salt along with 1/4 cup of water, so that the channa absorbs all the taste of the curry. 7)Place the bay leaf and cook covered for a few minutes. 8)Heat a little ghee in a separate pan and fry the cashewnuts. 9)When the channa is done, add the cashewnuts, coriander leaves and lemon juice. :- Serve with Appam, Idiyappam or Fried Rice.
