Prawns Coconut Fry

Prawns(Chemmeen) fried with coconut

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lb Prawns Chemmeen
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 pinch Turmeric powder
  • 2 - Kukum star Kodampuli
  • Salt As reqd
  • Ginger A small piece
  • 1 - Green chillies
  • 5 - Curry leaves
  • 3 - Garlic pods

For masala:

  • 1/2 of Coconut grated
  • 1 no Onion big
  • 5 - Garlic pods
  • 1 - Chillies
  • Ginger A small piece
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Chilly powder

Instructions
 

  • Clean the prawns and smear them with chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt. Keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  • Crush chillies, garlic and ginger.
  • Add them along with the prawns in a vessel.
  • Pour water along with kukum star, till it just covers the contents and cook covered for 30 or 45 minutes or till the prawns are cooked.
  • Chop all the ingredients for masala except coconut.
  • Fry them till they become golden brown.
  • Add coriander powder and chilly powder and stir for a minute.
  • Add coconut and fry till it becomes brown.
  • Add prawns and fry for 5 or 10 minutes.
  • :- Serve with rice.
  • :- The amount of ingredients can be varied as per your taste.
  • :- Reduce the amount of chilly powder if u want a mild taste. But it tastes better when its spicy.
  • :- You can also try adding garam masala.
