Beef Thoran

Spicy beef dish made with coconut

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Beef
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper powder
  • 3 nos Garlic pods
  • 1 small Ginger
  • 1 small Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 2 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 1 no Cardamom Elakka
  • 1 small Nutmeg Jathikka
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup Onions chopped
  • 2 tsp Green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger chopped
  • Curry leaves A sprig

Instructions
 

  • Cut meat into small pieces after removing fibres and fat.
  • Grind the coriander, chilli, turmeric, pepper, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and nutmeg.
  • Mix the masala paste, meat, vinegar and salt and cook till it becomes very soft and the water is all absorbed.
  • Mince the meat in mincer or crush the meat and shred it.
  • Grind cumin seeds and crush coconut.
  • Heat 1/4 cup oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and when they splutter, add onions followed by green chillies , ginger, curry leaves, cumin seeds and crushed coconut.
  • Mix the prepared meat and stir until the water is absorbed.
