Soak horse gram dal whole night. Tie it in a muslin cloth and allow it to sprout. Usually it takes one day.
Cook this sprouted dal in a pressure cooker by adding enough water.
Cut onions and tomatoes into small pieces.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add the seasoning ingredients one by one. When it splutters, add onions and fry till golden brown.
Add tomatoes and fry for a few minutes.
Add cooked sprouted dal to it and stir well.
Add salt, chilly powder, little sugar and water and cook well.
Add grated coconut, masala powder and chopped coriander leaves before removing from the fire.
