Chena Curry (Elephant Yam Curry)

Ingredients
  

  • 400 gm Elephant yam Chena
  • 50 gm Red gram Thuvaraparippu
  • 2 nos Green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Asafoetida A pinch, Kayam
  • Coriander leaves A few
  • 1 Lemon
  • Oil for seasoning
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Cut chena into small pieces.
  • Cook the chenas along with the red gram and green chillies in a pressure cooker.
  • Grind the cooked chena and dal in a mixer. Keep this aside.
  • Heat a little oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Pour the fine paste of yam/chena and dhal.
  • Add the seasoning after frying them in oil or ghee.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Then add coriander leaves.
  • Finally add a few drops of lemon juice.
  • :- Serve with plain rice.
