Andhra Fish Pulusu With Video

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Fish
  • 10 tbsp Oil
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 6 nos Whole green chillies
  • 2 nos Big onions
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 3 tsp Garlic paste
  • 3 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1 big Tamarind
  • 2 cups Hot water
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Andhra Fish Pulusu, first soak tamarind in 3 cups of warm water.
  • Grind onions to paste.
  • Cut the fish into medium pieces. Use fish like tilapia or porgees.
  • Heat a Mud Pot and spread oil (10 tbsp looks too much but fish pulusu needs lot of oil).
  • Add Curry Leaves, Whole Green Chillies (if you need more spiceness for the curry while eating, break the green chillies) and fry it for few minutes.
  • Add Onion Paste, Turmeric Powder, Salt and mix it. Fry it for around 7 mts so that onion paste is cooked well.
  • Add Garlic Paste, mix and fry it for few minutes until the raw smell goes away.
  • Add Chilly Powder and fry it for few minutes.
  • Add tamarind water(2 cups) and mix well. Let it boil.
  • Add Hot Water(1 or 2 cups), curry shouldn't be very watery.
  • Close with lid and let it boil for 7 minutes.
  • Add fish and mix it. Check the sourness before you add the fish. Add more tamarind water if needed. Close the lid and cook it for 10 minutes.
  • Add Garam Masala, Corriander Leaves, and mix it without breaking fish.
  • Close the lid and cook for 5 mts.
  • Enjoy Andhra Fish Pulusu with hot rice. It tastes even better the next day.
