Surakka Kadalai Curry

This is a south Indian bottle gourd curry made with channa dal. Here the bottle gourd , channa dal is cooked with onions and tomatoes together and then spiced up with red chilli powder and coriander powder. This curry is made very quick and finally tempered with mustard and curry leafs. This excellent curry suits well for chapati and idli dosas.

Ingredients
  

  • bottle gourd chopped 200 gms
  • channa dal 50 gms
  • onion 1
  • tomato 1
  • turmeric 1 sp
  • coriander powder 1 sp
  • red chilli powder 1 sp
  • salt to taste
  • mustard seeds 1 sp
  • curry leaves few

Instructions
 

  • in a pressure pan put bottle gourd cubes , channa dal, onion, tomato and cook adding salt and turmeric
  • add enough water and cook well
  • when cooked add coriander powder and red chilli powder to it.
  • boil finely and temper with mustard ,curry leaf and serve
