Ingredients
  

  • bottle gourd 1/2kg
  • small onion 15 no.
  • red chili 2 no.
  • sambar powder 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • oil 5 tsp
  • grated coconut 2 tsp
  • groundnut powder 2 tsp
  • mustard 1/2 tsp
  • broken urad dal 1/4 tsp
  • curry leaves 6 no.

Instructions
 

  • peel the skin and chop the bottlegourd
  • in a pan heat the oil and temper the mustard, broken urad dal and curry leaves and add chopped onion and saute it for two mins
  • now add turmeric and chopped bottle gourd and mix it and allow to cook for 2 mins
  • now add sambar powder and salt and mix it
  • add required water for the bottlegourd poriyal and allow to cook, until the bottle gourd get cooked
  • once the bottle gourd get cooked, add grated coconut and groundnut powder and mix it and turn off the flame
  • now bottle gourd poriyal is ready to serve
