Daal Curry (Parippu Curry )

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Tuvar daal thuvara parippu
  • 1 cup Onions chopped
  • 1/2 cup Tomatoes sliced
  • 3 slit Green chillies
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera
  • 1/2 tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 1 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required

Instructions
 

  • Soak the dal in water for half an hour
  • Cook the dal with water, turmeric powder and salt
  • Mash the cooked daal partially
  • Chop the onions and tomatoes.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and after it splutters add the jeera. Add chopped garlic and fry.
  • Add onions and curry leaves to this
  • Add chilly powder to this and fry
  • Add sliced tomatoes and green chillies
  • Add the cooked dal and enough water as required
  • Allow this to boil and daal curry is ready
  • Serve with boiled rice or rotis

Notes

Instead of curry leaves you can use coriander leaves too.
You can add a tablespoon of sambar powder along with red chilly powder for variation too.
