Pavakkai Puli Kulambu

Pavakkai Puli Kuzhambu is another classic South Indian Puli Kulambu made with bitter gourd . Bitter gourd has many health benefits and is considered to be good for diabetic patients.

Ingredients
  

  • Bitter Gourd 250gm
  • small onion 20 no.
  • Tomato 2 no.
  • red chili 2 no.
  • curry leaves 1 bunch
  • Tamarind water 1 cup
  • coconut paste 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • sambar podwer 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • kuzhambu milagai podi 2 tsp
  • oil 4 tsp
  • mustard 1 tsp
  • fennel seed 1/2 tsp
  • fenugreek seed 1/2 tsp
  • broken urad dal 1/2 tsp
  • coriander leaves to garnish

Instructions
 

  • Chop the Bitter gourd
  • chop the onion, tomato, red chili
  • in a pan heat the oil and temper the mustard, broken urad dal, fennel seed, fenugreek seed
  • add curry leaves and onion and saute it until the onion turn into brown
  • add tomato and red chili and mix well
  • add salt and turmeric powder and mix it
  • now add bitter gourd, sambar powder, kuzhambu milagai podi and mix well
  • add tamarind water and mix it and allow to cook for 5 minutes
  • add required water and to cook for 5 minutes
  • add coconut and jaggery paste and mix well and allow to cook until the bitter gourd get cook and gravy becomes thick
  • now pavakkai puli kulambu is ready. garnish with coriander leaves. serve with rice
