Cheppa Kizhangu ( Taro Root ) Varuval

cheppa kizhangu varuval is one of the famous dish in tamil nadhu. this varuval goes well with any type of rice as side dish. This can be prepared with the simple ingredients available in our kitchens.

Ingredients
  

  • Cheppa kizhangu ( taro root ) 100g
  • coconut 2 pieces
  • small onion 4 no.
  • red chili 6 no.
  • garlic 3 no.
  • fennel seed 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • oil as required

Instructions
 

  • purchase the old taro root ( cheppa kizhangu ). and boil it in the pressure cooker by adding salt and water and allow for 2 whistles. and peel the skin
  • chop into small pieces
  • make a paste with coconut, fennel seed, garlic, onion, red chili, salt and turmeric powder
  • in a kadai or pan heat the oil and the masala paste and mix well
  • add chopped cheppa kizhangu and mix well
  • add oil if required and fry well until the masala get cooked well in medium flame
  • cheppa kizhangu varuval is ready
