Easy Apple Pie Easy

  • For preparing basic crust:
  • 150 gms All purpose flour Maida
  • 75 gms Butter
  • 30 gms Icing sugar
  • 1 nos Egg yolk
  • 3 tbsp Cold milk

For preparing filling:

  • 50 gms Cake crumbs one thick slice of sponge cake, crumbled
  • 5 gms Ground cinnamon optional
  • 1/2 kg Apple peeled & chopped
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • Jam As reqd
  • 2 tbsp Water


  • For preparing easy apple pie, place the flour and butter into a bowl and rub the butter into the flour.
  • Mix in the rest of the ingredients: icing sugar, egg yolk and cold milk. Knead briefly on a lightly floured work surface, then leave to rest for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out and line a pie dish and bake blind at 400 F(200 C) for 18 to 20 mins to get the pie shell.
  • Cook the chopped apple with lemon juice, ground cinnamon, sugar and water till apples are translucent.
  • Crumble the cake and add this to the apple mix.
  • Spread a thin layer of jam in the baked pie-case and fill with apple-cake mix and press it down.
  • Dot it with the butter. Roll out the remaining pastry and cut into strips and decorate the top of the pie.
  • Brush it with a mix of egg white, sugar and milk.
  • Bake till the top is golden brown in colour.
