Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups Spinach(chopped) Paalak/Cheera
  • 1/2 cup Sambar Parippu or Toor dal
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 3 - Small onions Kunjulli
  • 2 pinch Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 - Dry red chillies Kollamulaku
  • Curry leaves A few

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Cheera Parippu Curry or Dal Paalak, first cook dal with turmeric powder, chilly powder, a little water and salt in a pressure cooker..
  • Add chopped paalak or cheera and cook for 1 - 2 mins.
  • Blend together coconut, cumin seeds and small onions by adding little water until you get a thick solution.
  • Pour this into the paalak and dal mixture.
  • Remove from fire when it starts boiling.
  • :- Do not boil too much.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add this seasoning into the Cheera Paalak Curry or Dal Paalak.
