For preparing the traditional styled dish, slowly peel off the outer surface of the plantain skin and finely chop them.
Put the chopped pieces in water.
Add a little gruel water(Kanji vellam) into the above water and keep it for sometime.
:- This is done to get rid of the serum.
Place the above chopped plantain pieces along with turmeric powder, water and required salt in a vessel and allow it to cook. Keep this aside.
Place grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chillies, garlic cloves and curry leaves in a mixer bowl and run it once into a coarse form.
Mix together the coconut mixture with the cooked plantain.
Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
Splutter mustard seeds and saute red chillies, rice and curry leaves.
Add the plantain mixture and mix well.
Lower the flame and cook the thoran till done.
