Onion Chutney For Black Gram Thosai

Onion Chutney, a spicy, tasty accompaniment for idli, dosa. This is an instant chutney prepared quickly within few minutes. This prepared mainly with onion and coconut as main ingredients. The sauted onions, green chillies are grinded together with coconut, tamarind and seasoned with mustard seeds. If you have any guest suddenly you can prpare this chutney and serve with idli, dosa.

  • 1/2 cup Grated cocunut
  • 2 nos Red chillies Kollamulaku
  • 1 no Onion big
  • 1 no Garlic pod
  • Tamarind As reqd, Puli
  • Curry leaves A stalk
  • Salt As reqd
  • Gingelly oil


  • Grind together red chillies and coconut.
  • Add tamarind, curry leaves, garlic, onion and salt.
  • Grind them into a semi smooth form.
  • :- No need to add water since the water content in the onion is enough.
  • :- Serve by adding a spoon of gingelly oil in it.
