Black Gram Thosai

Black Gram Thosai is one of the healthy wholesome breakfast and staple recipe in many parts of Tamil Nadu. These are healthy and nutritious Dosas are made out whole urad dal (black gram) and parboiled rice. Urad dal is rich in calcium, iron and folic acid which is especially important for girl child and women. Usually dosa is made with skinless black gram but this dosa is made with the whole black gram which is the same one used to make dal makhni

Ingredients
  

  • 6 tumbler Parboiled rice
  • 2 tumbler Black gram(Uzhunnu) with black skin
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds Uluva
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil

Instructions
 

  • Soak rice, black gram and fenugreek seeds together for 2 hrs.
  • Grind for 30 mins by adding sufficent water.
  • Add salt to taste.
  • Mix well and make the batter semi solid.
  • Keep this overnight for fermentation.
  • Pour one spoon full of batter on a greased frying pan(thick layer taste more).
  • Pour 1 tsp of oil on its edges.
  • When the base is golden brown, turn the side and cook well.
  • :- Refer the Black gram thosai onion chutney for side dish.
