Spicy Ammini Kozhukattai | Spicy Steamed Rice Flour Balls

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice flour Ari podi
  • 1 1/2 cups Water
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida powder Kayam
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 nos Dry red chillies Kollamulaku
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing the spicy dish, first boil water in a pan.
  • Add required salt.
  • Pour the boiling water into the rice flour. Keep stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Let the mixture thicken.
  • Allow the mixture to cool a bit.
  • The mixture should be smooth.
  • Pluck out small balls.
  • Roll with your palm.
  • :- Apply a little oil on your hands while doing so.
  • Steam the rice balls in a steamer for five minutes or until done. Apply a little oil on the steamer plates inside so that the dough will not stick to the bottom.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds, red chillies, a pinch of hing and curry leaves. You can adjust the spiciness of the dish as per requirement.
  • Add the rice balls and stir.
  • :- Serve the Spicy Ammini Kozhukattai hot. Enjoy the snack with a cup of hot tea.
