Malabar Fish Fry Masala

  • 1/2 kg Fish
  • 2 tsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 2 Nos. Onion large
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 5 Nos. Green Chilly
  • 2 Nos. Tomato small
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 3/4 tsp Pepper powder
  • few Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • As needed Salt


  • Marinate fish with chilli powder, turmeric, salt & lemon juice.
  • Then shallow fry them on both sides. 
  • Keep aside.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add ginger, garlic paste and chopped onion. Saute till the onion turns light brown in colour.
  • Then add garam masala powder, pepper powder and saute for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomato, crushed green chilly and curry leaves. Saute for 7-8 minutes in medium flame.
  • Add fish pieces. Cover with a lid & cook for 5 more mins in low flame and turn off the flame. Delicious Malabar Fish Fry Masala is ready now.
