Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add one sliced onion and fry until golden brown in colour. Take it from the oil and keep aside. Then add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper corns and fry for a few seconds.
Add chicken pieces and saute for 5 minutes.
Add ginger garlic paste, onion and salt as required and saute for another 5 minutes..
Add sliced tomato, green chilly, half of fried onion and mix well. Simmer the heat and cover and cook until chicken is 80% done. Remove the lid and cook on high heat until all the water is reduced.
Then add water and washed and drained rice, Drizzle some ghee on top. Pressure cook it for one whistle. Open the lid and fluff the pulao with a fork.
Chicken pulao is ready now. Garnish with fried onion and serve hot with raita.
