Cheera Chakkakuru Aviyal | Spinach Jackfruit Seeds Aviyal

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g Cheera/spinach Preferably Red Spinach
  • 150 g Jackfruit seeds
  • 1 No. Raw mango Medium size
  • 1/2 Cup Grated Coconut
  • 5 nos green chilli
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 6 nos Shallots
  • 10 Leaves Curry leaves
  • Salt As reqd
  • 2 tsp Coconut oil
  • 3 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder

Instructions
 

  • Clean, wash and cut (preferably vertically) the Cheera (Spinach) leaves and stem as shown in the picture.
  • Also clean and cut (preferably vertically) the Chakkakuru (Jackfruit seeds).
  • Peel the Mango, remove the seed and cut (preferably vertically) it into slices.
  • Grind the grated coconut, shallots, green chilli, and cumin seeds, preferably without adding very little water and keep the paste separately.
  • Transfer the cut cheera pieces and the chakkakuru pieces into a cooking vessel and add about two cups of water also.
  • Add Red Chilli powder, Turmeric powder and Salt also. Close the cooking vessel with a lid/plate. Cook the Chakkakuru and Cheera in medium flame.
  • After about ten minutes, remove the lid/plate, stir it well and cook the mix again properly.
  • When the mix is cooked properly (It may take about 10 - 15 minutes to cook), put off the stove and add the paste (made with Coconut, Shallots, Cumin seeds and Green Chilli). Also add Coconut Oil, Curry leaves and some hot water (if necessary) and stir it well and keep it aside for some time.
  • Cheera (Spinach), Chakkakuru Aviyal is ready. This Aviyal can be served with Chappathi/Poori/Dosa/Cooked Rice.
