Fish Pathiri

Delicious pathiris with stuffed fish masala - Ramzan special

Ingredients
  

  • For pathiris:
  • ½ kg Parboiled rice soak in lukewarm water for about 3 – 4 hrs
  • 4 Small onions Kunjulli
  • 1 no Coconut
  • 3 tsp Fennel seeds Perinjeerakam
  • 4 Cardamom Elakka
  • Salt As reqd

For fish masala:-

  • 4 nos Fish pieces
  • 4 nos Onion finely chopped
  • 1” piece Ginger finely chopped
  • 2 nos Garlic pods finely chopped
  • 5 nos Green chillies finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves A little
  • Mint leaves A little
  • Curry leaves A few
  • 1 tbsp Chilly powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • ½ tsp Garam masala powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the fish pieces with turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt.
  • Grind the rice smooth without adding water.
  • Grind together grated coconut, fennel seeds, small onions, powdered cardamoms and salt into a smooth paste.
  • Mix the above two to form a nice dough.
  • Fry the marinated fish pieces, till crisp.
  • Heat a tbsp of oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Add onions and sautT, till it turns brown.
  • Add green chillies, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves, mint leaves and curry leaves and sautT well.
  • Add all the powders and salt and sautT further.
  • Add the fried fish pieces and mix well.
  • Switch off the flame, when done.
  • Take a plantain leaf and spread a small portion of the dough into the shape of pathiris.
  • Place a fish piece with masala on it.
  • Place another pathiri spread on another plantain leaf on this masala and press well to get it sealed on the edges.
  • Repeat the procedure for the remaining dough and fish masala.
  • Steam them, till done.
