Kesaribath

Quick dessert made in Karnataka when guests are sitting in the living room.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Semolina Rava/Sooji
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Raisins Onakkamunthiri
  • 1 tbsp Cashewnuts
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder Elakka
  • 3 tbsp Ghee
  • 3 cups Hot water
  • Kesari or Yellow food colour A pinch

Instructions
 

  • Take a medium size non stick pan.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in it.
  • Add cashewnuts & raisins & fry for 1 min.
  • Add the rava and fry again for 1 min.
  • Reduce the flame completely & then add hot water, elaichi powder & food colour and keep stirring for 3-4 mins on medium flame.
  • When the rava gets almost cooked, add sugar and stir again.
  • :- Make sure that lumps are are not formed.
  • Add the remaining ghee and stir again.
  • Cover the pan and cook on reduced flame for 3 - 4 mins.
  • :- Serve hot.
