Nadan Chemmeen Mulakittathu - Red Prawn Curry

One of the blessing of life on malabar coast is that we get to enjoy fresh seafood. Fresh seafood and fish cooked in clay pot gives a different taste that i can't explain. Nadan chemmeen mulakittathu is one of like that traditional prawn recipe which is quiet spicy and hot. The people who love spice will surely love this recipe. This curry gives a delicate balance of sour,tangy and spicy taste for your prawns. Please check out the video.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g Prawns
  • 2 large Tomato
  • 4 Green chilly
  • 1 small Onion
  • 10 Shallots
  • 1 lemon Tamarind
  • 2 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seed
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves few

Instructions
 

  • Take all the ingredients and keep it ready.
  • Clean prawns and add chilly powder,turmeric powder,salt and water as required.
  • Soak tamarind in hot water for 5 minutes.
  • Heat oil,splutter mustard seed and fenugreek seed and add shallots,onion and saute until golden brown in color.
  • Add tomato,green chilly and curry leaves.
  • Saute for 5 minutes.
  • Add prawns along with masala water and tamarind water
  • Bring it to boil and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Nadan Chemmeen Mulakittathu - Red Prawn Curry is ready to serve
