Rasam Vada | South Indian Rasam Vadai

Here is a recipe that brings together the rasam and vada into a complete dish on its own. Rasam Vadai is a tasty variation to the regular vadas. Rasam is a thin soup made with tomatoes and essential spices. The melt in vadais tastes amazing .

Ingredients
  

For preparing Vada:

  • 1/2 cup Urad dal
  • As reqd Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper corns
  • 1 no. Onion chopped
  • Few Curry leaves and coriander leaves (chopped)

For Preparing Rasam:

  • 2 tbsp Toor dal
  • 2 tsp Tamarind paste
  • 1 no. Tomato
  • As reqd Salt
  • 2 tbsp Rasam powder(You can adjust the spice level as per requirement)
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Few Curry leaves, Coriander leaves

Instructions
 

For Preparing Rasam:

  • First cook toor dal.
  • Add chopped tomato and tamarind to cooked dal and bring to boil.
  • To this add salt and rasam powder.
  • Temper with seasonings.

For Preparing Vadai:

  • Soak and grind urad dal and add required salt, chopped onion, curry leaves and cumin seeds.
  • Prepare vadas and deep fry in hot boiling oil.
  • Pour hot rasam over the crispy vadais and serve hot.
