Nadan Chemmeen Curry

Nadan prawns curry is a traditional Kerala dish.It is a good dish for rice and chapathi.It is a yummy dish of gods own country.My husband and kid loves this traditional dish.Every one have to try this simple and easy dish.Prawns cooked in coconut and spices gives a authentic flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Prawns washed and cleaned
  • 1cup grated Coconut
  • 2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 Red chilly
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 10 Shallots
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Tamarind juice
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • First cook prawns with 1cup of water for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a kadai add grated coconut,coriander seeds,red chill i and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add chili powder,turmeric powder and coriander powder saute for 2 minutes .
  • Add small onions to this and saute for 2minutes,until it turns to brown color.Keep it aside.
  • In another kadai add oil then add onions and green chilies saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add tomatoes and saute for2 minutes.
  • Grind the coconut mix in a mixer.
  • Add this ground mix and cooked prawns to kadai.
  • Add 1 cup water,tamarind juice and salt to this boil for 2 minutes.
  • Now nadan chemmeen curry is ready to serve.Serve with rice.
