Plantain Flower Dosa

Plantain flower dosa is a traditional recipe. It is healthy and tasty. A easy to make dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cup Boiled rice
  • 2 tsp Whole black gram/urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek
  • 2 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 Red chilli
  • Plantain flower a fistfull
  • Turmeric powder a pinch
  • Salt as needed
  • For seasoning
  • 1 tsp Oil/Ghee
  • Mustard

Instructions
 

  • Wash the rice, black gram and fenugreek, and soak it for 4 hours.
  • Remove stamens (in Tamil it is called as kallan and kullan) from the plantain flower.
  • Grind the rice, plantain flower, fennel and red chilli.
  • After grinding add salt and turmeric powder to the batter and allow it to ferment for 3 hours.
  • In a kadai heat oil and add the ingredients for seasoning (as listed above), and add it to batter.
  • Then make as dosas, cook well on both sides by adding oil/ghee.
  • Healthy and delicious plantain flower dosas ready.
  • Serve it hot with coconut chutney.
