Beef Vindhalu

Beef Vindhalu is a tasty blend of cooked beef pieces in fiery red hot spicy gravy with a unique tempting flavor of crushed mustard. Beef Vindhalu dish has its roots among the Anglo Indian families and now it has gained a striking popularity in Kerala Cuisine. Beef Vindhalu is one of the hottest, spicy as well as tangy dishes best served with paratha, chappathy, naan, appam, hot rice, almost with anything. Beef Vindhalu can be easily prepared at home with all readily available ingredients. Chopped beef pieces are marinated with a spicy chilly garlic mixture and left aside for a few minutes. Cook the marinated beef pieces in a pressure cooker adding little water. Enjoy the dish and make your taste buds tingle with this traditional favorite.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Beef small pieces
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 6 nos Green Chillies
  • 15 nos Garlic
  • 1 big Ginger
  • 4 tsp Vinegar
  • 4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Big onion(sliced)

Instructions
 

  • Clean the beef and chop into small pieces. Keep this aside.
  • Make a smooth paste with the ingredients: turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt, pepper powder, green chillies, garlic, ginger, vinegar and mustard seeds.
  • Marinate beef with the above prepared paste and leave aside for a few minutes.
  • Put the pan on stove, heat oil and allow to splutter the mustard seeds. Add onion and ground green chillies.
  • When onion becomes brownish, add beef. Add little water and allow to cook in a pressure cooker until done. This is not a gravy curry.
