Clean and de-vein the prawns. Crush shallots, green chillies and ginger.
In a clay pot or kadai, heat oil. Splutter mustard seeds.3) Add the crushed shallots and fry till soft.4) Add garlic and tomatoes into it and fry again.
Add the turmeric, chilli powder, coriander and fish masala.6) Fry till oil comes on top.7) Add gamboges and salt. Add little water and cook the masala.8) Add prawns and curry leaves. Close with lid and cook prawns.
