Beef Vartharachu Varatiyathu

Ingredients
  

  • ½ kg Beef
  • 1 no Onion slices
  • 5 nos Green chillies
  • 1 tsp Ginger finely sliced
  • 1 cup Coconut slices
  • Curry leaves Few
  • 1 tbsp Pepper
  • Salt As reqd

For masala:

  • 15 nos Shallots Kunjulli
  • 1 piece Ginger
  • 7 cloves Garlic
  • 1 no Green chillies
  • 1 no Cardamom Elakka
  • 2 nos Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 3 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 1 no Bay leaves Karuga ela
  • 1 tbsp Meat masala
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder

Instructions
 

  • For preparing beef vartharachu varatiyathu, first clean and chop the beef into small pieces.2)In a kadai, heat 1 tbsp oil. Add ginger, garlic, onion , cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and bay leaves.
  • When it turns color, add all the masala powders. Just heat for a few seconds but it should not be burnt. Remove from flame and cool. Grind to a smooth paste.
  • In a pressure cooker, add little oil and heat. Add the ground paste and required salt. Fry till dark in color. Add the beef pieces and cook with little water.6)When done, drain the excess water by sauting it again. In a clay pot, add oil. Stir in onion, green chillies, ginger and fry well.
  • Add the coconut slices and fry again.9)Add the beef pieces, pepper and curry leaves.
  • Tasty beef vartharachu varattiyathu is ready.
